Electrical Repairs & Troubleshooting

When something in your home or business stops working — an outlet, a circuit, a switch, a breaker — the problem is usually traceable and fixable. We diagnose electrical problems correctly before recommending any work, and we repair only what actually needs it.

Common electrical problems we fix

Diagnosis first, repair second

Most electrical problems have a root cause that is identifiable before any wiring is touched. We find it first, then fix what is actually causing the issue.

🔌

Dead or Intermittent Outlets

Outlets that stop working are often caused by a tripped GFCI upstream, a loose connection at the outlet, or a wiring fault on the circuit. We trace it from the outlet back to the source.

Tripping Circuit Breakers

A breaker that trips repeatedly is telling you something. We identify whether it is a load issue, a short circuit, or a ground fault — and address the actual cause, not just reset the breaker.

Faulty Switches & Dimmers

Switches that buzz, flicker, or stop controlling a fixture are usually a failed device or a wiring connection issue. Replacement is quick when we have confirmed the cause.

Lighting Problems

Lights that flicker, hum, or go out unexpectedly can be a bulb, a dimmer, a fixture wiring issue, or a loose connection further up the circuit. We work through it systematically.

Unsafe or Outdated Wiring

Exposed wiring, improperly spliced connections, missing junction box covers, and ungrounded outlets are all code issues we encounter and correct during repair visits.

GFCI & AFCI Faults

GFCI outlets that trip immediately on reset, or AFCI breakers that nuisance-trip, often have an underlying cause. We identify whether it is a real fault or a compatibility issue with the device.

How we approach repairs

Find the root cause. Fix it right. Leave it code-conscious.

Electrical repair is diagnostic work. The symptom — a dead outlet, a tripping breaker — is rarely the whole story. We test the circuit methodically, find the actual fault, and repair it in a way that is correct and code-conscious.

We do not replace parts speculatively. If we cannot confidently identify the cause, we say so — and explain what it would take to find it.

What we check during a repair visit

Outlet and switch function at the device and upstream
GFCI protection status on the affected circuit
Breaker condition and load on the circuit
Wire connections at devices, junction boxes, and panel
Ground continuity and polarity at outlets
Visible wiring condition in accessible areas

Common questions

Electrical repairs FAQ

My outlet stopped working. What could cause that?
The most common causes are a tripped GFCI outlet (check for a GFCI outlet nearby with a test/reset button — it may control other outlets on the same circuit), a tripped breaker, or a loose wiring connection at the outlet or at the panel. Less commonly it can be a wiring fault in the wall. We diagnose from the outlet back to the source to find the exact cause.
Why does my circuit breaker keep tripping?
A breaker trips for two main reasons: the circuit is overloaded (too many devices drawing power at once), or there is a wiring fault — a short circuit or ground fault somewhere on the circuit. Overloads are often a load management issue. Wiring faults need to be found and repaired. We test the circuit to determine which it is before recommending a fix.
Is old or aluminum wiring a problem?
Aluminum branch wiring (used in many homes built in the 1960s–70s) requires specific devices and connection methods to be safe. If you have aluminum branch wiring and standard outlets or switches, the connections should be assessed. We can evaluate what you have and recommend appropriate remediation — which may be as simple as using the correct connectors at each device.
A switch in my home stopped working. Do I need to replace the whole circuit?
Usually not. A failed switch is often just the switch itself — a straightforward replacement. Sometimes the issue is a loose wire connection at the switch. We test and replace only what is actually faulty, not the whole circuit.
Do you work on commercial electrical repairs as well as residential?
Yes. We handle electrical repairs and troubleshooting for small businesses and commercial properties across the Coachella Valley — outlets, circuits, panels, lighting, and wiring issues in both residential and commercial settings.
